Kerala: SSLC results on Web sites tough to access

Our Bureau

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, May 15

WITH the Kerala education department declaring the Secondary School (SSLC) results on Thursday, it was rush hour on the Internet. Many parents and their wards logged onto the Net in an effort to obtain the results as soon as they were released. This resulted in extremely heavy traffic to Web sites that were displaying the SSLC results.

Though the authorities had arranged for the SSLC results to be available on over half-a-dozen Web sites, traffic to most of these sites was clogged till late in the afternoon.

For much of the day, it was almost impossible to get through to important government-related Web sites such as the official Kerala Government site (www.kerala.gov.in) and the Technopark site (www.technopark.org) . Even Kerala-related portals such as Keralaonline.com, which were displaying the SSLC results, were affected by heavy traffic.

Internet users with dial-up accounts from across the State also reported difficulties. One user in Thiruvananthapuram said there was a perceptible drop in the speed of his connection.

However, the situation improved later in the day, with sites such as those of the Kerala IT Mission and Kerala Telecommunications, becoming easier to access. The Kerala Government site too was easier to access by evening.
