Judicial appointments

The recent fracas between the judiciary and the Centre on the non-allotment of funds to the judiciary for recruiting personnel, and a freeze on fresh appointments of judicial officers highlights the problems caused by the inordinate delays in the judicial system.

The differences could have been sorted out by discussions between high-level officials of the departments concerned.

To have a head on clash is not in the interest of good governance or justice. Both the Centre and the judiciary should put an end to the controversy.
