Letters Tackling terrorism
This is with reference to the article "Putin shows the way" (Business Line, December 19). The rising instances of terrorism in India is due to the soft approach by the Centre. This is because the country lacks a determined leader like Mr Vladimir Putin. His firm handling of the hostage crisis in a Moscow theatre is praiseworthy, and should be followed by other countries such as India. Also, the stand taken by Mr Putin, who advised the US against including Pakistan in the war against terrorism is welcome, and should show the way for the Indian leadership which apparently shows ostensible silence on the US double standards. India should implement bold and firm decisions and tackle the threat of terrorisn head-on. The dirty games of Pakistan should be fought with determination, on the clear understanding that others cannot and will not fight our battles. C.P. Velayudhan Nair Kochi
