New Products & Services Variety - Floriculture The stand-in gardener in a container Our Bureau
CHENNAI, Dec. 18 YOU'RE a green freak and gardening is your way of keeping in touch with Mother Nature. But you are also one of those millions of unfortunate city dwellers running behind the mirage called life, and in the process, leave your sweet home for days on end. Cursed, that's what you think you are? Don't be disheartened for help is at hand. Mafatlal Dyes and Chemicals Ltd might just have the answer to your prayers when it comes to watering your beloved plants and taking care of them when you are away. The company has come out with a new product Emdisoil a water retainer. Emdisoil, a polymer containing carbon, hydrogen and nitrogen, which when incorporated in the soil or substrate, absorbs and retains large quantity of water and nutrients. Once mixed in the soil, it allows the plant to take water and nutrients whenever required. It also helps in reducing mortality rate due to transplanting shock and enhances root development. The product can also be used for transporting cut flowers, which are highly heat-sensitive. Emdisoil, in the form of hydrogel, has resistance to heat shocks and prevents leak after thawing. It can also be used for colouring water in glass containers with cut flowers. So next time when you go on that tour, you don't have to beg your neighbour to be your stand-in gardener.
