ATMA members' H1 exports touch Rs 485 cr

TYRE exports by member companies of the Automotive Tyre Manufacturers' Association (ATMA) touched a level of about Rs 485 crore during the first half of fiscal 2002-03.
The ATMA member companies had recorded an export turnover of about Rs 884 crore in the last fiscal.
Exports of truck and bus tyres increased by 5.34 per cent in volume terms in the first half of the current fiscal to 9.80 lakh tyres as against 9.30 lakh tyres last year.
The Americas continues to be the single largest market for the country's tyres in the truck and bus category.
About 21 per cent of the truck and bus tyre production during the first half of the current fiscal were exported.
According to an ATMA official, passenger car tyre exports, in volume terms, increased by 5.53 per cent during April-September 2002 to 1.55 lakh tyres ( 1.47 lakh tyres).
