CTCs lower at Kochi sale

KOCHI, Dec. 1

A FAIR general demand persisted for almost all varieties of tea at the Kochi tea auction.

Of the quantity of 9,47,000 kg on offer in the dust category, CTC market was irregular and lower. Orthodox tended to ease.

The best CTC varieties commanded prices between Rs 48 and Rs 68, medium CTC realised Rs 38-47 and poorer type were quoted Rs 32-34. Highgrown BOPD fetched prices between Rs 65-109, while medium BOPD realised Rs 32-35. Secondaries were quoted at Rs 25-26.

The leaf sale also witnessed a fair general demand and the quantity on offer was 474,000 kg.

The best Nilgiri varieties commanded prices between Rs 50 and Rs 77, medium orthodox realised Rs 40-47 and plain orthodox were quoted Rs 48-49. Both best CTC leaf and medium CTC leaf fetched prices between Rs 38 and Rs 42.

In the dust category, BOPD-CL realised the best prices of Rs 109 followed by Pasuparai SFD by Rs 75.50. In the leaf category, Chamraj OP fetched the best prices of Rs 109 followed by Havukal OP by Rs 108.
