People New Customs Commissioner Our Bureau
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Mr R.K. Jain, an officer of the 1976 batch of the Indian Revenue Service, has taken over charge as Commissioner of the newly-constituted Central Excise and Customs Commissionerate, Thiruvananthapuram, on promotion and transfer from the Pune II Central Excise Commissionerate. An official spokesman said that the Commissionerate of Thiruvananthapuram was formed as part of the restructuring of the Central Excise and Customs Department at the all-India level. The Thiruvananthapuram Commissionerate will have jurisdiction covering the entire districts of Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam and parts of Pathanamthitta and Alappuzha districts. The following Divisions and formations will now come under the Thiruvananthapuram Commissionerate: (i) Central Excise Division, Thiruvananthapuram (ii) Central Excise Division, Kollam (iii) the newly-formed Customs division, Thiruvananthapuram, and (iv) Air Customs Unit, Thiruvananthapuram International Airport, Thiruvananthapuram. The Thiruvananthapuram Commissionerate will be housed at the ICE Bhavan, Press Club Road, Thiruvananthapuram.
