Microsoft to unveil Tablet PC in December

Our Bureau

NEW DELHI, Oct. 25

MICROSOFT Corporation will launch its Tablet PC — a wireless computing device — in India in December this year, a month after the global launch of the product.

According to Mr Rajiv Kaul, Managing Director, Microsoft Corporation India, the company is currently talking to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) in the country to develop hardware for Tablet PC. Microsoft would license the Tablet PC technology to the OEM vendors, Mr Kaul said here at the sidelines of a CIO (Chief Information Officer) Summit organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).The price of the new product would be decided by the vendors.

He said that Microsoft had clocked double-digit growth in India during the last fiscal.

Speaking at the summit, he said the foremost priority for any organisation in future would be to develop a system, which would increase productivity, reduce cost and align businesses.

``It is important to build a system that can change fast than to build a system that lasts,'' he said. According to Mr Avtar Saini, Director — South Asia, Intel Asia Electronics, information technology should be used both as an enabler and driver of growth as well as an integral part of business strategy in an organisation.
