C-DAC inaugurated in Mauritius

NEW DELHI: The Union Communications Minister, Mr Pramod Mahajan, has inaugurated the Centre for Advanced Computing at the University of Mauritius, Port Louis during his official trip to the country.

According to an official statement, the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), Pune, and the University of Mauritius had entered into a Memorandum of Understanding in June under which C-DAC proposed to set up a Centre of Excellence to be called C-DAC School of Advanced Computing (C-SAC) in the Mauritius.

The C-SAC so established would be a centre of premier research, consultancy and training institution in the field of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). It would be a Centre of Excellence for high quality IT training and related development activities for Mauritius. It will also help in the development of human resources by training personnel and building requisite skills for spreading the use of information technology in Mauritius. The Centre would also help promote e-governance in partnership with the University of Mauritius.
