Our Bureau

CHENNAI: The First Med Hospitals in Chennai of the Apollo Hospitals group has opened a specialised centre for nephrology, according to a company release.

The modern dialysis centre and nephrology unit will offer personalised care to make it easier for the patients to go through the long and continuous treatment process that dialysis involves, the release said.

First Med Hospitals is the first in the chain of acute care hospitals by the group to operate on the friendly neighbourhood care model. The 74-bed hospital focuses on providing emergency trauma and acute care to neighbouring areas.

A multi-specialty acute care centre has over 25 medical specialties, four modern operation theatres, a nine-bed intensive care unit and a specialised centre for reconstructive hand surgery, microsurgery and plastic surgery. It offers 24-hour emergency care and is connected to the National Emergency Network through the four-digit dial-in facility 1066.
