CHENNAI, June 5
AN exhibition of products made by handicapped persons is to be held here on Saturday. On display would be products such as paintings, toys, jewel boxes, candles, paper bags, dolls, herbal products and flower vases.
The exhibition is being organised by Nandini Voice for the Deprived, which recently inaugurated a Nandini Trade Centre for Products of the Disabled. It is being organised to create awareness about the problems of the handicapped, "some of whom have to take loans at exorbitant rates of interest to make their products", according to Mr N.S. Venkataraman, Trustee, Nandini Voice for the Deprived.
For Saturday's event, around 40 disabled persons including orthopaedically disabled, blind, deaf, dumb, mentally ill from all over Tamil Nadu have confirmed participation.
While this exhibition is organised by Nandini Voice for the Deprived, it is actively supported and helped by Tamil Nadu Handicapped Welfare Federation Trust (an apex body of the District Handicapped Associations of Tamil Nadu) and Help To Live (a social service organisation run by a few software professionals).
