Telecommunications BPL Mobile Cellular cuts charges Our Bureau
COIMBATORE: BPL Mobile Cellular Ltd has slashed the mobile roaming charges for its subscribers following the steep reduction in STD charges by BSNL. In a release, Mr. Bharat Chadda, Head of Business Operations and Marketing, BPL Mobile, said the reduction in STD charges by BSNL up to 60 per cent had paved the way for his company to cut the mobile roaming tariff to Rs 3 per minute from the existing Rs 10. Apart from this airtime rate, subscribers opting for mobile roaming facility would have to pay a rental of Rs 100 per month for all India roaming and Rs 150 for international roaming facility. Besides, BPL mobile also extended for its subscribers in Tamil Nadu (other than Chennai city) a special `Select South Roaming' facility covering Chennai city, Kerala and Karnataka for which a monthly rental of Rs 50 would be collected, apart from a deposit of Rs 1,000.
