Passport verification eased

CHENNAI, April 11

ALL members of any All-India Service or Central Service can now issue the verification certification required for passports applied under the tatkal scheme, according to Mr G. Mathi Vathanan, Regional Passport Officer, Chennai.

These officers should be equivalent to or above the rank of a Deputy Secretary to the Government of India with the pay scale of Rs 12,000 to Rs 16,500.

At present, passports are issued in emergency cases on production of verification certificates in the format Annexure `G' attached with the application issued by any one of the six categories of officers mentioned in the list.

Mr Mathi Vathanan said all resident commissioners, additional resident commissioners of all State governments based in Delhi could issue the verification certificate.
