States Industry & Economy - SSI Visvesvaraya Award Our Correspondent
MADURAI, Feb. 21 THE Madurai District Tiny and Small-Scale Industries Association has invited applications for the ninth Visvesvaraya Award for the best unit in SSI sector in the southern districts. According to a communication here, any small industry operating in any of the nine southern districts, established after 1988 but before April 1998, are eligible for the award. While the Visvesvaraya award is worth Rs 10,000, the second and third prizes, sponsored by Canara Bank are worth Rs 5,000 each. Application forms can be obtained from any office of DIC/TIIC/district SSI associations, district headquarter branches of the State Bank of India, Canara Bank and Lead Bank of concerned districts and the filled applications should be submitted before March 15, 2002.
