Rubber Rubber firms up on covering purchases Our Correspondent
Kottayam , Dec. 28 Physical rubber prices finished firm on Friday. The market improved mainly on covering purchases since leading international markets continued to rule better in the weekend session. Certain major manufacturers were buyers on sheet rubber up to Rs 93.50, sources said. The sheet rubber grade closed at Rs 94.25 and Rs 93.50 a kg respectively at Kottayam and Kochi against Rs 93 on Thursday. Buyers from the non-tyre sector were also active in the main marketing centres.
Futures rise
On NMCE, the January contract finished at Rs 97.10 (Rs 96.39), February at Rs 99.83 (Rs 99.72), March at Rs 103.10 (Rs 102.52) and April contract at Rs 105.05 (Rs 104.54) per kg for RSS 4. The turnover was 3,583 (4,933) lots and the open interest 8,683 (8,095) lots. The January contract for the same grade closed at Rs 97.35 a kg against Rs 96.74 a kg on MCX. The trading volumes stood at 484 (745) lots. Spot prices (Rs a kg) were: RSS-4: Rs 94.25 (Rs 93) RSS-5: Rs 90 (Rs 90); ungraded: Rs 86.50 (Rs 85.00); ISNR 20: Rs 89.50 (Rs 89.50) and latex 60 per cent: Rs 64.20 (Rs 64.20)
