Rehabilitation of farmers

This is with respect to "Development cannot be pulled out of thin air" (Business Line, December 18). All eyes are on Singur. The larger issue is that of rehabilitation of the farmers. Ideally, the farmers should be compensated with land at another place. The compensation should be 50 per cent in cash and the remaining in equity in the company to be set up. The State government must constitute an independent panel to oversee the implementation of its policies.
