Tea Web Extras - Commodity Markets Firm trend at Kochi tea sales Our Bureau
Kochi Dec. 18 , Good general demand propped up prices of most tea varieties at the Kochi tea auction. CTC dust grades were fully firm to dearer by Rs two to five, while medium varieties were up by Re 1 to Rs 2. Orthodox high grown dust varieties remained steady. There was 11,32,000 kg of dust on offer at the auction. Best CTC grades fetched between Rs 63-75, medium CTC ranged between Rs 50 and Rs 58, while below medium was quoted at Rs 42-45. Highgrown BOPD was quoted at Rs 110, medium BOPD realised Rs 46-48, while secondaries were not quoted at the auction. There was 3,57,000 kg of leaf tea on offer at the auction, which generated good demand, resulting in firm prices. Medium primary orthodox leaf grades were steady to dearer, while medium varieties remained steady.

Fannings were quoted higher. High grown orthodox whole leaf grades and other varieties were dearer, while CTC prices increased by Rs 1 to Rs 2. Best Nilgiri varieties were quoted at Rs 73-95, medium orthodox ranged between Rs 46-50 and plain orthodox was quoted at Rs 44-45. Best CTC leaf grades fetched Rs 48-52 while medium CTC realised Rs 43-47.
