Awards & Honours States - West Bengal Ion Exchange bags Water Digest awards Our Bureau
Kolkata , Dec. 11 Ion Exchange (India) Ltd is the recipient of several awards at the recently concluded `Water Digest Awards 2006-07' function in Delhi, said to be the country's first ever awards in recognition of outstanding efforts and excellence by individuals, NGOs and corporates in the field of water and water industry. Mr Rajesh Sharma, Managing Director of Ion Exchange, received awards for the `Most Coveted Water Company' and `Best Water Conserver - Waste-water Management' categories. The company's `Zero-B' received the `Best Domestic Water Purifier - Complete RO Purifier' award. A Lifetime Achievement Award was conferred on Mr G.S. Ranganathan, Chairman of Ion Exchange, in recognition of his services towards water conservation during the last 50 years. The awards, instituted by `Water Digest', an international magazine, in collaboration with UNESCO and CNBC TV 18, were presented by the Union Minister for Water Resources, Prof. Saifuddin Soz, the UNESCO Director, Ms Minja Yang, Centre for Science and Environment Director, Ms Sunita Narain. The judges panel comprised Dr Sudhirendar Sharma, Director of Ecological Foundation, Dr Sukumar Devotta, Director, National Environmental Engineering Research InstituteMr D. Dutta, CMD, Water and Power Consultancy Services and Dr B.R. Neupane, Regional Programme Specialist (UNESCO).
