FALLING PRICES: Cotton being packed at a farm in Vattimala village in Karimnagar district of Andhra Pradesh. Higher production and arrivals have led to fall in prices. The rates for the popular Shankar-6 variety have declined below Rs 18,000 for a candy of 355.62 kg. Cotton production during the current season that began in September is projected to be a record 250 lakh bales of 170 kg.
