Pulses `nil' import duty regime extended

Our Bureau

New Delhi, Dec. 6

The Finance Ministry has extended the `nil' import duty regime on pulses to July 31, 2007. It had earlier allowed duty-free imports of pulses up to March 31, 2007. As part of its efforts to enhance the availability of pulses, the Government had done away with Customs duty on pulses. The latest move to further extend the validity of `nil' import duty regime is aimed at curbing inflation, official sources said.
