Spot rubber prices recover

Spot rubber prices made a smart come back on Wednesday. RSS 4 closed at Rs 79 against Rs 77 and Rs 77.50 a kg respectively at Kottayam and Kochi.

Covering groups turned aggressive as certain tyre companies came forward to buy sheet rubber at the prevailing rates. The trend was catalysed by a smart recovery in RSS 3 by Rs 2.45 to Rs 73.13 a kg at Bangkok spot, sources said.

Futures better

The rubber futures also showed a better trend on NMCE. The December contract finished at Rs 80.50 (Rs 79.97), January at Rs 81.20 (Rs 80.63), February at Rs 83.40 (Rs 82.44) and March at Rs 84.60 (Rs 83.48) per kg for RSS 4.The volumes totalled 4,543 (3,703) lots and open interest 6,582 (6,550) lots. On MCX, the December contract improved to Rs 79.60 from Rs 78.38 a kg.

Spot prices per kg were: RSS-4: Rs 79 (Rs 77); RSS-5: Rs 76.50 (Rs 75); ungraded: Rs 75.50 (Rs 74); ISNR 20: Rs 76 (Rs 74.50) and latex 60 per cent: Rs 49.45 (Rs 48.95).
