TRADITIONAL FISHERMEN use different methods to make their catch. Being a safe and easily available source of animal protein with high consumer acceptability, demand for fish has pushed up production in the country, which stands at 6.4 million tonnes now. Inland fisheries contribute over 50 per cent to the total production.
