NGRI scientists bag awards

Dr Abhey Ram Bansal and Dr Kalachand Sain, both scientists at the National Geophysical Research Institute (NGRI), here have been selected for the National Mineral Award-2005, for their contributions in the field of Earth Sciences. Dr Bansal has developed a technique for processing and interpreting gravity and magnetic data, which has many applications in the Oil and Mineral Exploration, according to a press release from the NGRI. Dr Kalachand Sain, on the other hand, has worked extensively on gas-hydrates, in which the Institute has a major project. The award carries a cash prize, trophy, citation and is presented by the Union Ministry of Mines.
