VETA, earlier known as Vivekananda Institute, a premier English training academy in the country from Chennai, opened its 10th regional spoken English training centre in the city on Thursday. A substantial boom in rural economies is taking place with a lot of emphasis on English language skills and VETA intends to serve as a one-stop shop in catering to the communication needs of the population, the Executive Director, VETA, Major K.V. Rajan, told reporters. The centre would function not only as a training centre for students but also cater to the training needs of the trainers and counsellors employed by the franchisees in the region. Founded in 1981, the academy has over 100 centres in 70 cities across the country and has trained over 1.9 million students over the years, he added.
