Bonds fall tracking US treasury yields

Our Bureau

Mumbai, Nov. 16

Bond prices fell by around 10 paise tracking US treasury yields. The total traded volume on the order matching system was lower at Rs 2,655 crore (Rs 8,415 crore).

Dealers said that US treasury yields hardened by 4 basis points on the back of the release of the minutes of the US Federal Reserve meeting which indicates that inflation is still a concern. Market participants said that since domestic bond prices had rallied in the past few days, there was some profit booking as well.

The 7.59 per cent, 10-year, 2016 paper opened at Rs 100.35 (7.53 per cent YTM) and closed at Rs 100.30 (7.54 per cent YTM), lower than Wednesday's Rs 100.43 (7.52 per cent YTM). The 8.07 per cent, 11-year, 2017 paper opened at Rs 103.76 (7.53 per cent YTM) and closed at Rs 103.77 (7.53 per cent YTM), against Wednesday's Rs 103.86 (7.52 per cent YTM).
