Kolkata Nov. 14

The much awaited two-wheeler launch of the Xenitis Group will hit the Indian roads in January 2007. Earlier, in November 2005, the Group floated a separate company, Global Motors, a joint venture with Guangzhou Motors Company, China, for the two-wheeler venture, says a press release.

According to the release, Global Motors will bring the motorbikes in a semi-knocked down condition and assemble them. Once the manufacturing facility is set up, the company will begin production on its own.

Besides motorbikes, the company also plans to launch gearless scooters in India very soon. Mr Santanu Ghosh, Chairman, Xenitis Group, said that Global Motors was planning to start production with a capacity for 20,000 two-wheelers every month. The company had already acquired the land for the plant and will initially employ 500 people.
