Alliances & Joint Ventures Veeda Clinical, Advinus tie up for pre-clinical services Our Bureau
Bangalore , Nov. 8 Advinus Therapeutics, the Tata-backed drug research and contract services company, has announced a tie-up with Veeda Clinical Research to provide seamless pre-clinical and early clinical development through phase II. The alliance covers pre-clinical and early clinical development, animal and human safety pharmacology, pre-clinical toxicology and pharmacology, clinical pharmacology as also microdosing capabilities to pick drug candidates on the basis of human `PK' data, an Advinus release here said. Advinus is a venture between the Tata Group and Dr Rashmi Barbhaiya, former research head at Ranbaxy Labs. Veeda Clinical Research is a contract research organisation with clinical pharmacology units in the UK and in Ahmedabad. The tie-up will set a trend in the emerging drug discovery industry in the country and will attract companies looking for pre-clinical and clinical services in Europe and the Americas, the release said. The existing clients of both companies will also be able to tap the integrated pre-clinical and early clinical development capabilities of the alliance. Dr Barbhaiya, Advinus CEO and Managing Director, said, "Our alliance offers seamless access to our combined capabilities in pre-clinical and early clinical development of drug candidates to our clients. (It) represents an important milestone in our strategy to offer integrated R&D services to our partners." According to Dr Apoorva Shah, Managing Director, Veeda CR, this would give it access to Advinus's pre-clinical and pharmaceutical development capabilities. "Our combined capabilities will offer unique opportunities for developing investigative new drugs and for early clinical development to our clients in a seamless manner."
