Also bags contract from Jharkhand Govt

Mumbai , Nov 7

Core Projects and Technologies has renewed its contract with the Department of Public Instruction (DPI) of North Carolina, USA, and in addition bagged a contract from the Government of Jharkhand.

Enterprise Computer Services, the US subsidiary of Core Projects, inked the North Carolina contract for Rs 30 crore, Rs 7 crore more than the valuation of the previous contract signed in 2003, said Core Projects officials. The project will be executed over three years.

Core Projects provides IT solutions catering to healthcare, education, government needs. The company currently has contracts with the states of Georgia, Michigan, Maine and Florida in the US.

The North Carolina project, called CECAS (Comprehensive Exceptional Children Accountability System), is a case management and data analysis system offered to local education authorities, charter schools and State-operated programmes. CECAS helps manage and analyse data related to physically and mentally challenged students across schools and districts in the state. "The system currently facilitates information for over two lakh challenged students," said Mr Alok Pathak, President - US Operations, Core Projects and Technologies. The Core Projects contract with Jharkhand would enable direct monitoring of funds allocated under the "Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan" (Education for all) project implemented by the State. The mechanism will enable administrators to track individual performances of students and teachers.

The Rs 1.5-crore pilot phase of the project will be followed by its rollout in 22 district of Jharkhand by January next year, a Rs 25-crore project.

"We have been approached by six-seven states through the RFP (request for proposal route) for implementing the direct monitoring mechanism," said Mr Pathak, adding that the company is in talks with states like Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Bihar.
