Tool to screen Haj applicants

Our Bureau

Bangalore, Nov. 7

A Bangalore-based software company has come out with a product that has automated the entire gamut of processes starting from application selection to short listing to providing flight schedules for Haj Pilgrims. The software, developed by Synte Solution& Technologies, has simplified the complex processes for monitoring Haj Pilgrims' selection under Government quota and help in eliminating repeat applicants. It is equipped to integrate the thumb impressions to sift the genuine applicants who had not undertaken the pilgrimage in the last five years.

Due to lack of a proper database, about 30 per cent of applicants manage to get past the stipulation and deprive the first-time applicants the opportunity to go on the pilgrimage. The software will enable the Hajis to apply online for easy processing, said the Karnataka Minister of State for Haj, Mr Zulfikar Ahmed.

Mr Samiualla, Director, Synte Solution, said the company would be incorporating an additional feature of tracking the Hajis while on third visit. He said the company was also planning to integrate the software with the Consulate General's office in Jeddah through the Web to enable the pilgrims' relatives to keep track of them.
