Flood havoc

Ch. Vijaya Bhaskar

SUBMERGED CROPS: Farmers displaying the damaged paddy at Kaza village in Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh on Sunday. Relief operations in flood-hit areas are hampered by stagnant water and severe shortage of boats, preventing officials from reaching the needy.

The destruction caused by the Ogni cyclone and the heavy rains that lashed the coastal districts, particularly Krishna, Guntur and Prakasam, have resulted in hundreds of crores of loss in crops and property.

A Central team is expected to visit the flood-hit areas soon.
