Airlines Government - Policy Traffic controller can okay additional flights Our Bureau
New Delhi , Nov. 5 In a further liberalisation of aviation rules, the Government has permitted scheduled domestic airlines to operate charter flights or additional flights by just obtaining the prior approval of the Air Traffic Controller (ATC). The Directorate General of Civil Aviation has now decided to grant approval for mid-season schedule changes of flights based on a no-objection certificate from the person in charge of the airport. The airline, however, would have to give a genuine reason for the change and also confirm to the authorities that no scheduled flight was cancelled to operate the charter or additional flight. The latest move is likely to lead to greater comfort for passengers, as airlines would be in a position to operate an additional flight on a particular route if the need so arises just by seeking a NOC from the ATC, sources said.
