Hyderabad , Nov. 4

Apollo Hospitals, Hyderabad, will launch a cancer rehabilitation centre here in December. It would have a tie-up with Johns Hopkins Medical School, USA. Dr K. Hariprasad, CEO, Apollo Hospitals, Hyderabad, that saidit was investing Rs 1 crore on this one-of-its-kind centre in the country.

Cancer Rehabilitation

Talking to mediapersons on the eve of the forthcoming REHAB-2006 on Sunday, Dr Hariprasad said rehabilitation of cancer patients was the most neglected area.

Cancer rehabilitation is a multifaceted job and patients need the services under one roof. The new cancer rehabilitation centre at Apollo Hospitals will provide comprehensive rehabilitation services, he added.

Ms Samantha Eckman, Speech and Language therapist, St Georges Hospital, London, said cancer was afflicting patients as young as 30-40 years.

Over 120 delegates and faculty from India and abroad participating at this conference will focus on the much neglected, though, important field of rehabilitation of cancer patients who have undergone major head & neck surgery.
