West Coast Paper net rises

Our Bureau

Kolkata , Nov. 1

West Coast Paper Mills Ltd for the quarter ended September 2006 has come out with an improved performance compared to the corresponding period of previous year, as the gross profit has increased from Rs 17.08 crore to Rs 23.48 crores, registering 37 per cent growth.

The net profit was also higher at Rs 16.12 crore against Rs 10.25 crore for the same period a year ago. Net sales increased from Rs 128.12 crore to Rs 140.91 crore.

Net profit for the quarter is higher in spite of reduced other income of Rs 1.76 crore. Working results would have been better but for the increase in the cost of raw material, chemicals and power and fuel. However, the commissioning of 15.5 MW turbine and other equipment are giving the desired benefits, which are reflected in the working results. Earnings per share for the quarter was Rs 18.03 (annualised Rs 72.12) as against Rs 11.46 in the corresponding quarter of the previous year (annualised Rs 45.84).
