Mother Dairy: Clarification

With reference to the news item "Mother Dairy plans brand expansion" published in these columns on October 16, Mother Dairy clarifies as under:

The total turnover of its Safal brand (including fruit and vegetables, frozen vegetables, fruit juices and exports) is between Rs 225 crore and Rs 250 crore and not as reported.

The company's frozen peas category enjoys a market share of 65 per cent. Its fresh dairy products - the curd and fresh lassi category - have a shelf life of 10 days for the entire range of products other than ice cream. In respect to the ice cream category, the company said it will focus only on key towns rather than all the towns and it would go to the southern markets later.
