Hyderabad , Oct. 20 A consortium of Mediciti Hospitals, Sujana Industries and Gati have partnered to bring a cost effective testing facility that could help patients infected with HIV (Human immunodeficiency virus). They have announced the launch of the CD4 testing facility to be housed at the Mediciti Hospitals on the outskirts of Hyderabad. APAIDSCON, an association of 15 private medical colleges in Andhra Pradesh, which is involved in tackling the problem, would be the main user of the facility. While Sujana Industries has provided the Rs 45-crore Flow Cytometer facility, Gati, the logistics company, would provide support in transporting the blood samples free of cost to the institutes spread across the State to begin with, according to Dr Vijay Yeldandi, Director, MediCiti Immunology & Infectious Diseases and Secretary, SHARE, US. The cost of the tests has been subsidised to Rs 200 for patients referred to MediCiti by these 15 partnering institutions. Dr G.S. Saluja of APAIDSCON said the public-private partnership project to tackle HIV infection in the State with the help of CDC, Atlanta, also plans to bring in the Nursing Home Associations into the fold to widen the reach of help to the affected people.
