Software Chennai, a key hub for MindTree Our Bureau
Chennai , Oct. 18 MindTree Consulting, a Bangalore-based IT and research and development services company, plans to make Chennai as its "strategic hub," according to its Chairman and Managing Director, Mr Ashok Soota. "Next to Bangalore, Chennai would be our strategic hub. Chennai would not just be our branch operation," he said at the inauguration of the company's new Chennai development centre. The centre at the Olympia Tech Park would have around 300 employees by April 2007, he said. MindTree has also signed up for a 2.85 lakh sq ft facility at the Ascendas IT Park in Mahindra World City, located in the outskirts of Chennai, and the centre is expected to be operational in 2007-08. In the first phase, the company should have around 2,800 people in both facilities, Mr Soota later told newspersons without giving a time frame. He also declined to give financial details citing IPO as the reason. The Union Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Mr Dayanidhi Maran, inaugurated the new centre at Olympia Park.
