Precision farming

This is with reference to "Precision farming paying dividends" (Business Line, October 17): The report on precision farming is welcome.

It is a hi-tech productive scheme. The generous subsidy scheme from the Tamil Nadu government has helped modernise agriculture and maximise the yield with water management and fertigation systems that save water.

This is a boon to enterprising farmers. Precision farming should be extended to many more districts and more funds should be allocated for it. This will prove to be a model for farmers in other States to follow.
