Call for fisheries marketing

There is a need to promote awareness about fisheries products and develop a domestic marketing network to help sustain the fisheries sector and increase food security, according to Mr K. Madhusudan Reddy of Good Health Foods and Beverages, Hyderabad.

Speaking at a function organised by the Forum of Fisheries Professionals here on Monday on World Food Day, he said that his was a small company trying to promote value-added fisheries products in Hyderabad.

"We plan to open several outlets in the twin cities (Hyderabad and Secunderabad) in the future," he said.

Dr K.R. Prasad, president of the forum, said women's self-help groups should be involved in the marketing of fisheries products. He said the MPEDA (Marine Products Export Development Authority) plans to set up a society at Kakinada.

Dr D.I. Khasim, the secretary of the forum, and Dr Dikshitulu, Editor of Fishing Chimes, also spoke.
