Bahwan CyberTek plans development centre

Chennai , Oct. 16

Bahwan CyberTek Pvt Ltd, part of the Oman-based Suhail Bahwan Group, will construct a new development centre in Chennai at a cost of Rs 120 crore.

The 1.80-lakh sq ft facility on the Old Mahabalipuram Road (the IT corridor) can accommodate around 1,400 employees and would be ready by early 2008, according to the company's Senior Vice-President, Operations, Mr Shyam Sundar.

The Chennai-based company with revenues of Rs 167 crore employs around 600 people — mostly in Chennai. It expects a 35 per cent growth in revenue this fiscal and is likely to employ around 1,400 people when the new facility is ready, he said.

According to Mr Sundar, financial institutions would fund 40 per cent for the new facility, and the rest would come from internal accruals and from the parent group. The expansion would drive the company's offshore presence, and allow the company to serve more large customers from the new facility, he said.
