Rubber declines further

Spot rubber declined again hit by another setback in overseas futures. Tokyo Commodity Exchange recorded heavy losses in all its contracts followed by a sharp decline in oil futures.

Sheet rubber RSS 4 weakened to Rs 83.50 from Rs 84.00 and Rs 84.50 respectively at Kottayam and Kochi. The market experienced all-round losses amidst low arrivals as buyers maintained a low profile.

Futures weak

The futures showed further weakness on NMCE. The October contract was quoted at Rs 85.00 (Rs 86.02), November at Rs 80.00 (Rs 80.34), December at Rs 80.18 (Rs 80.81) and January at Rs 82.15 (Rs 82.21) per kg for RSS 4.

The open interest in October was projected at 489 (497) lots, November 1516 (1445) lots, December 833 (788) lots and January 448 (427) lots. Spot prices (Rs a kg) were: RSS-4: Rs 83.50 (Rs 84.00); RSS-5: Rs 82.00 (Rs 82.50); ungraded: Rs 79.50 (Rs 80.00); ISNR 20: Rs 81.00 (Rs 81.50) and

Latex 60 per cent: Rs 58.95 (Rs 59.98).
