New fisheries research vessel

The Central Institute of Fisheries Technology is constructing a new steel fisheries research vessel intended to carry out the fisheries research programme of the Institute. Dr S. Ayyappan, Deputy Director General (Fisheries), ICAR, New Delhi, will lay the keel of the vessel on Thursday at the boat yard of Kerala Shipping and Inland Navigation Corporation near the Fisheries Harbour. The 17.5 metre long vessel will be constructed at a cost of Rs 2.7 crore at the KSINC yard. It will have facilities such as deep freezer to carry two tonnes at minus 24 degrees.
