New Delhi , Oct. 4

The Commerce Secretary, Mr G. K. Pillai, today said that his department would be pushing for a Central legislation to put in place a single window clearance for perishable product exports as the current system suffers from high detention time and consequent loss of the export cargo.

Interacting with media persons formally here for the first time as Commerce Secretary after assuming office last Saturday, Mr Pillai said that he would take all possible steps to micro-manage problem areas so that exporters' transaction cost is brought down and exporting activity proceeds on a higher gear.
