RISE IN AVERAGE PRICES: A worker plucking tea leaves on a plantation near Devikulam in Kerala. The average price fetched in the South Indian auctions during January-July increased by Rs 5.46 to Rs 49.57 a kg, while in the North, the prices averaged Rs 71.51, up Rs 6.76. Overall, the prices in the auctions across the country rose Rs 5.76 a kg to Rs 63.65 a kg.
