SCR Rubi Jubilee celebrations

Our Bureau

Hyderabad, Sept. 25

Marking the completion of 40 years of its formation, the South Central Railway (SCR) is planning a 10-day Rubi Jubilee fete, beginning on October 8. The zone, which was formed on October 2, 1966, would have a new logo. Addressing a press conference here, Mr D.N. Mathur, General Manager of SCR, said a special `Heritage steam train' would be flagged off from Secunderabad station. The train, with carriages that reminisced carriages of yester years, would be run up to Falaknuma and back. A heritage museum would be opened near the Butterfly shed at Rail Nilayam, the headquarters of SCR. A handbook `SCR - 40 glorious years' and a special issue of `Indian Railways' magazine would be released on the inaugural. The proposed events for anniversary celebrations included musical nite and sports competitions.
