Bangalore to host lab solutions expo

Our Bureau

Bangalore , Sept. 25

The laboratory solutions industry's third expo, Analytica-Anacon, is being held in November and for the first time in Bangalore. Nearly 120 exhibitors are expected at the event slated from November 16-18, the organisers said in a release.

Analytica-Anacon trade fair and conference is targeted at the pharmaceuticals, bioinformatics, diagnostics, healthcare and food, which depend on lab analysis, equipment and technology.

Important platform

The platform is important as the country imports over 60 per cent of lab equipment and solutions.

Last year's imports from German manufacturers alone accounted for over 68 million worth of lab equipment and technology, up 27 per cent over 2004, the release said.

Asia — especially India and China — is considered a high growth market for instrumental analysis and lab technology. Last year, the region garnered a third of the $8-billion global market share or nearly the same as the US or Europe.

CII estimates that there are 400 lab enterprises in the country supporting R&D in biotech and life sciences.

Analytica-Anacon showcases products and services aimed at labs for pharma, food, biotechnology, agriculture, environmental protection, metals processing and consumer goods.
