Rural Development States - Kerala Nabard gives Rs 41 cr under RIDF to Kerala Our bureau
Thiruvananthapuram , Sept. 25 The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard) has released Rs 40.98 crore to the Kerala Government under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF). The amount is to be utilised for implementing 183 projects in the State, according to Mr B.S. Shekhawat, Chief General Manager, Nabard. Of the total amount, Rs 27.34 crore has been earmarked as start-up advance for procuring materials to commence work on 118 projects sanctioned under the RIDF - XII covering all districts of the State. The projects include 24 rural roads and 23 rural bridges being implemented by the PWD (Rs 20.05 crore); 31 rural roads and two bridges by local self- governments (Rs 1.26 crore); 11 roads by the forest department (Rs 2.97 crore); one road by the tourism department (Rs 25 lakh); and 18 soil and water conservation projects by the agriculture department (Rs 2.44 crore).
OTHER PROJECTS
The balance Rs 13.64 crore will be utilised for implementing 65 ongoing projects of various departments. These include 20 rural roads and 36 rural bridges in all districts by the PWD (Rs 12.78 crore); three drainage and flood protection projects in Thrissur, Ernakulam and Kottayam districts (Rs 69 lakh); and five soil and water conservation projects in Idukki, Ernakulam and Thrissur districts (Rs 14 lakh). The total disbursement to the State Government under the RIDF from April till date amounted to Rs 71.46 crore as against Rs 53.71 crore during the same period last year, Mr Shekhawat said. The cumulative sanction of assistance under the RIDF - I to RIDF - XII to the State was to the tune of Rs 1,702 crore involving 2,560 projects. Out of this, the State Government had so far utilised Rs 962 crore, he said.
