New Delhi , Sept 21

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs decided on Thursday to advance the bonus payment of Rs 40 per quintal of paddy in Punjab, Haryana and Kerala for the kharif marketing season 2006-2007 to September 25 instead of October 1 decided earlier.

The decision follows the relatively early arrival of paddy in the three states. The bonus is over and above the minimum support price of Rs 580 per quintal and Rs 610 per quintal in respect of `Common' and `Grade A' varieties fixed for 2006-2007.
