IOC starts commercial despatch of PTA

Our Bureau

New Delhi, Sept. 19

IndianOil has commenced commercial despatch of purified terephthalic acid (PTA) from Panipat. The first despatch was flagged off by Mr K. Govindarajan, Executive Director (Petrochemicals), IndianOil, to Indo Rama Synthetics Ltd, which is the second largest producer of polyester fibre in India, the company said in a statement . The recently-commissioned 553-TMPTA (thousand metric tonnes per annum) PTA plant is the second major petrochemical venture of IndianOil after its 120-TMTPA LAB (Linear Alkyl Benzene, used in the manufacture of detergents) plant at Gujarat Refinery, which commenced commercial production two years ago. IndianOil proposes to market PTA in domestic and overseas markets across all segments of the polyester polymer — yarn, film, and chips, the company said.
