Chennai , Sept. 13

Television channel MAX is in talks with cable TV distributors in Chennai for telecasting the ICC Champions Trophy 2006, Mr Albert Almeida, Executive Vice-President and Business Head, MAX, said.

At present, MAX, in Chennai, is available as a paid channel as part of "TheOneAlliance" bouquet of channels distributed through the Conditional Access System (CAS).

Introducing the programming structure of the ICC Champions Trophy 2006 telecast, Mr Almeida said the decision on making the telecast available to Chennai would be known in a fortnight. However, he declined to say if the telecast would be available free-of-cost.

The 11-hour daily coverage of the ICC Champions Trophy matches starts on October 7 and will last till November 5.

It will include the seven-hour cricket match coverage and "extraa innings," an entertainment show with pre and post match analysis, live public interaction and small segments on cricketers' achievements/ratings.

Mobile content such as games and contests will also be available through out the period of coverage.

Hindi feed for six of the 21 cricket matches will be available on SAB, a channel owned by SET India Private Ltd, which also owns MAX.

Two new anchors — television and film artistes Rohit Roy and Shonali Nagrani — will host the programme besides cricket commentators Charu Sharma and actor Mandira Bedi.

Former cricketers such as Geoffrey Boycott, Navjot Singh Sidhu and former coach of the Indian cricket team, John Wright, will also be part of analysis.
