Chennai, Sept. 13

CEAT has launched CEAT Mile XL, a truck tyre that offers improved mileage and tailored to meet the needs of modern day trucking, according to the company.

Addressing the commercial launch of CEAT Mile XL, Mr Rajiv Jain, General Manager - Marketing, CEAT, said that the tyre is ideal for higher speeds, longer running and improved mileage.

CEAT has made this possible through a `cool solution' - the tyre runs cooler because of a special compound used in its making. It does not get as hot as conventional tyres and it dissipates heat more efficiently. Cooler tyre means it can run longer and damage is reduced. It has one of the deepest treads about 24.5 mm, what the industry calls non-skid distance, and shoulder lugs designed to dissipate heat, he said. CEAT Mile XL meets modern day trucking requirements, says Mr Jain. Gone are the days of over loading, poor road conditions and lower speeds - these meant a tyre had to be well muscled. But with stringent road regulations, trucks restricted to highway and intercity movement and multi axle trucks, speeds have improved. The tyre, tube and flap cost about Rs 12,500, he says. To promote the tyre in South India, the company is launching a campaign with mobile units that will display the tyre, provide information, conduct health camps and offer entertainment for truckers.
